How is Rating Calculated

Senya does not supervise or assess substitutes' work since they are freelance workers, and therefore, Senya does not give ratings to substitutes. The sub rating is based entirely on the rating submissions by schools after you complete jobs. It is a "lifetime" rating similar to Google or other sites with reviews, where each job rating can affect your current overall rating positively or negatively. See the Resource page, "5 Tips for Subs," to learn what schools share are the top reasons they give high ratings.

Special Circumstances

There are special modifications for certain months:

Some months have more days off than others (i.e. December for the holiday break). This may vary by state. During these shortened months, modifications are made to allow subs to reach higher Tiers with fewer jobs:

  • Achieve Tier 2 after 4 jobs
  • Achieve Tier 3 after 7 jobs
  • Achieve Tier 4 after 10 jobs

What Happens During Summer?

Common questions we get are...

  • What happens to my Tier status during summer when there is no work?
  • Do I start back again at Tier 1 when school starts again?
  • Will I start next school year at the same Tier I was when school ended?

Arizona

  • Your Tier carries over from May to the end of July.
  • August, September, October, and November have the normal requirements for Tier levels.
  • December is always an exception month.
  • January, February, March, April, and May have the normal requirements for Tier levels.

Florida, New York, Utah

  • Your Tier carries over from May to the end of July.
  • In August, you need to complete at least 1 job to maintain your Tier level.
  • September, October, and November have the normal requirements for Tier levels.
  • December is always an exception month.
  • January, February, March, April, and May have the normal requirements for Tier levels.

Other Eligibility Factors

Last-minute cancellations:

  1. If you accept a job, remember you are committing to the school that you will be there to teach that class. Please don't take that responsibility lightly! We understand that emergencies happen that sometimes necessitate canceling a job. If you do need to cancel, please do all you can to cancel at least 24 hours in advance of the job starting so that another sub has the opportunity to fill the job.
  2. If you cancel less than 24 hours of the job start time, it will be considered a 'Last-Minute Cancellation'. You will be reminded that if you proceed to cancel, you will be back on Tier 1 for the next 5 consecutive jobs.

Minimum 4-star rating:

  1. Each school will rate you on a scale of 1-5 stars after you have completed your job.
  2. To be eligible to stay on the Tier bonus program, you must maintain a minimum of a 4-star average. If at anytime you go below a 4-star average, you are set on Tier 1. You are given a high rating by default if a school does not submit a rating after a job.
